Description

This image was taken over the course of about 2 months, using various datasets best frames.

Typically we see plenty of images of the horsehead with narrowband filters or in broadband visible light. My problem is the dark dust has very little depth to it until extreme integration times. Near-Infrared imaging allows us to expose for shorter times and reveal the same details that would otherwise take many times more integration than we're used to.

This image will likely be in my series of progressive images with monthy, or yearly reprocesses or restacks with extra data.

Additionally, this is the first image with my finalized EdgeHD 8 setup, I added a Starizona MFD, installed a new D60 AR window on the 2400 letting me hit -40C without icing. I think these will be the last purchases for the EdgeHD 8, as I am currently eyeing an SCA260, or Edge HD 11 that actually support my Full-Frame ASI2400.

Now if only I can get enough money for a new scope...
