Description

This image has been recorded mostly in a humid and windy night of December 2023 after weeks of cloudy sky; despite this, star quality is acceptable. I was expecting more definition in the nebula core; probably better conditions and more exposure are needed.
This object, placed in the middle of the forehead of the Taurus, is an intense star formation area hosting a quantity of Herbig-Haro (HH) objects.

Sh2-239
Coordinates: (178.91°, -20.12°)
Sh 2-239 is not a HII region but a reflection nebula and a collection of Herbig-Haro objects (*) embedded in the dark cloud LDN 1551, which is hosting different generations of protostars and young stars. The brightest part of Sh2-239 is catalogued as HH102. It is located within the Taurus dark cloud complex, at 430. ly distance, which is inside the Gould belt, our local galactic neighborhood.

(*) Just out of curiosity, I have identified HH 102, 263, 264, 260 and 26 in the central body, then HH 28 and 258 in the little red cloud up left and finally HH 151 and 153 in the secondary nebula down right from the center.
