Description

This was my second attempt on the Rosette Nebula. Conditions were a bit different and so the gear. The first https://www.astrobin.com/i60zw4/ was taken under winter skies in the Pacific Northwest, city light-dome B8/9 and Optolong L-Pro filter without guiding on my old ES mount. The new image was taken this November under California desert skies. It's nice to see own improvements over the months and years in this hobby. And this time I only had to discard some 8-9 subs...

The Rosette Nebula NGC 2237 also known as Caldwell 49, lies 5000 LY from Earth and measures a mere 130LY in diameter.  An open star cluster, NGC 2244 lies within the nebula's center. Several stars in this cluster are O-Type-stars generating large amounts of radiation and stellar winds. The Rosette Nebula is located in the constellation of Monoceros and has an apparent magnitude of 9.0.
