Description

Since our spell of clear skies seems to be over for now, a picture of my current setup:

Tripod: Manfrotto 190Go, anchored with a ground screw and some heavy duty elastic

Mount: iOptron SkyTracker, mounted on a Neewer levelling base

Counterweight is a used Sky-Watcher component, attached with various bits from my pano set-up - the panning base on the tracker works a treat

Camera: Canon EOS 70D with hot-shoe mounted red-dot finder

Lens: Tamron 150-600mm F/5-6.3 with a cheap USB lens heater

Neewer intervalometer

I’m currently looking into upgrading to the Ioptron Skyguider Pro mount, since the SkyTracker is struggling with the weight, and I got quite intrigued by the new ZWO ASI Air Pro wifi autoguiding setup…better start saving up

At the moment the whole set-up packs neatly into a Lowepro Flipside backpack (with a lens-holder attached to one of the straps), ready to be taken out somewhere darker than my backyard, once the sky clears again and the lockdown is lifted in Wales,

Awyr glir!
