Description

While scouting for future targets for long integrations, I was pleased with this image only capturing 10 subs.  NGC 4274 is a barred spiral located in the constellation Coma Berenices about 69.9 mly away - and at magnitude 10.4 is relatively bright.  I chose to keep the full-frame image here to show the 28 nearby galaxies.  The inner disk shows a stream of dark dust seemingly flowing into (or out of) the center of the galaxy, albeit only on one side of the galaxy.  The galaxy has more diffuse outer band of stars (unresolved) which blends into the background of my Bortle 5 skies.

NGC 4274 is surrounded by 24 smaller (PGC) galaxies, in addition to 3 bright NGC galaxies in the 4 o-clock position of this capture:
NGC 4278 - elliptical galaxy - 55 mly distant - man 10.2
NGC 4283 - elliptical galaxy - 64.4 mly distant - mag 12.1
NGC 4286 - lenticular galaxy - mag 14.1
