Description

Twinkling stars did not promise quiet air for lunar imaging. Nevertheless, as a Triple-M (Mad-Moon-Man) I did it anyway without screwing up expectations also considering that I set the optical path to somewhere near f18, not only magnifying the lunar surface but also air turbulence. The final image is a composite of two frames showing the easterly direction of moon rise from the balcony before shooting the moon images.

All images in the revision section are stacks of 600 frames, captured with an ASI290MM with an IR640nm filter on, in mono8 with 10-bit ADC and 1.5x drizzled in AS!3. Fine tuning in PS. The focal length is about 2700mm.

See the utiliy poles? Yeees, there is electricity in Okinawa. Actually, our e-company is truly doing a great job keeping the cables and poles typhoon-resistant in that black outs are rather short for the sake of the beer in the fridges. However, in Okinawa, electricity is generated with diesel engines, therefore no state subsidies granted. Well, the numerous US bases here are not running on AA batteries, nor does my telescope mount 😌

Be safe!
