Description

33min of integral Ha exposure of immediate surroundings of Beta Centauri (Hadar) showing surprisingly complex structures not so noticeable in G or B broadband or OIII exposures (and barely visible in SII and R exposures) - captured remotely using Telescope #3 (ASA-N D = 0.5m f/3.8, FLI ProLine 16803) system of ChileScope on Mar 28, 2023. Original revisions and revision B-E are based on this Ha exposure.

Revision F is a separate 33min integral OIII exposure of exactly the same target captured with the same instrument on Mar 29, 2023. The OIII exposure shows none of the structures visible on Ha exposure.

Revision G is another separate 24min integral SII exposure of exactly the same target captured with the same instrument on Apr 1, 2023. The SII exposure shows a hint of structures visible on Ha exposure, so making a two-color narrowband Ha / SII composite image for this scene should be possible.

A wider FOV image of the central part of Cir-Cen starfield obtained with Chilescope T4 instrument are also available under [1]:

Since the attempts to find any previous optical images that would show the full structure of this nebula or even explicit references in the literature were unsuccessful so far (as of Apr 16, 2023, albeit its presence is found in several all-sky surveys which were reveling no internal structure or just a hint of presence - as identified during the discussion in Forum thread [2]), it is possible that this object was fully structurally resolved here for the first time!
