Description

Hello everyone!

Finally clear skies. This astro-season  is really the worst one since 2015 when I started with this hobby.
Only three nights with clear sky since August.
Well actually it wasn’t clear, but I was desperate to go out and collect photons again.

The  25th of November was the first one, the moon was shining and haze and high clouds where present throughout the night. The other two were the 4th and 6th January. Both nights with terrible weather conditions, haze, clouds and terrible seeing were a real pain.
It was very cold too, the 6th I started the evening with -15C (5F) and when I finished we had -20 (-4F).
But, technically everything worked perfectly and my new mini pc, MeLe Quieter 3 worked like a charm all three nights in the cold and the temperature inside the core package was +15 as lowest.
Unfortunately even if the guiding was ok, despite the weather conditions (0.4-0.5 tot. error for the most), I had to throw away 49 images and stacked the remaining 303.

The stars are terrible, I know! A bit oval and overexposed! But I can’t complain and I’m happy  that I could shoot again after so long.
The details are not so sharp due to the bad quality of the images and I did my best with what I had. I wished that my Christmas Tree nebula would have been as beautiful as this one from Roy (https://www.astrobin.com/0kup1k/G/), but at least my real Christmas tree was very beautiful this year

This is the biggest project ever that I have done so far with 15 hours of subs. Pity the weather though. I photographed the Elephant Trunk too the same evenings, before the Christmas Tree came up and after it disappeared behind trees.

I’m very surprised that everything worked perfectly despite the  exceptional cold for this part of Sweden. I was in bed sleeping and the gear worked in the cold, it even made two meridian flips per night with no problem despite clouds. Brrr....now I'm thinking about my frozen fingers when I was closing down the gear at -20C

Any way I’m so happy to upload something again  no matter the quality

Clear skies to everyone!
