Description

Like for most astro imagers, the horsehead is on my target list since the very beginning. But living far in the north that target is most of the time low in the sky. When traveling to La Palma (Canaries) this year, I finally made it and invested 23 hours of recording HaLRGB on that target. I used the ASI294MM for the first time and recorded Ha and lum in bin1, and RGB in bin2. I am still struggeling to combine the RGB data with the luminance and Ha but it's getting better and learning new things is half of the fun. So there might be new revision later. this year.  ;-)
I hope you like it. Clear skies!

Title: IC 434 - The Horsehead Nebula

Description: I reworked that image several times during the last days and tried to optimize the integration of the Ha and Luminance data while keeping the natural colors of the nebula and the stars. Finally, I did not add the Luminance data to the RGB. Instead, I did extract the RGB to CIE L* a* b and replaced the L channel with the Luminane data which is less noisy and provides better details. Huge thanks to Frank Sackenheim who describes that workflow on his Youube channel.
Hope you like the image as well.
