Description

Following the sucessful launch of JWST on Christmas day quite a few observers posted images of the telescope on its way to L2 amongst the stars.
The weather has been incredibly cloudy most of December but a short clear break occurred tonight so I had a go at imaging. JPL Horizons had me confused as the end date had to be less than 24th January, so I used an ephemeris by SETI at home on the Unistellar webpage which turned out to have the DEC sign wrong. I imaged both the north position and the south with difficulty due to clouds. Inspecting the south field in PI 'Blink' I spotted a moving object and compared the accurate ephemeris in JPL Horizons and confirmed it was indeed JWST!

6x60s frames interrupted by cloud, animated GIF attached.

I'm sure we all hope the next stages of the deployment goes as planned (nerve wracking!)
