Description

RCW 27 in HSO

OTA: FSQ106 with 0.73x reducer
Camera: QHY600M
Observatory: Telescope Live / Heaven's Mirror, Chile

Exposures:
H:  17 x 300 sec
O:  20 x 300
S:  15 x 300
Total Exposure time used: 4.3 hours
Image Width: 3.5 arcminutes

Processing: PixInsight, Topaz Studio2, Aurora HDR, custom scripts for image weighting and star replacement (down-sampled 8x for publication)

Not much information about this object is available online; I suppose that is because it's just like so many other lightly stimulated nebulae. It is mostly Ha with a bit of SII and barely enough OIII to show.

The subs for this object had apparent horizontal banding, which I partially remediated but still persisted in the final image. The more the colors and brightness were enhanced, the more noticeable they became. Perhaps this was a positive fact because it drove me to be less color-aggressive, my natural pension, and produce an image of a different ilk. Compare it to my last image on Astrobin, which used the same scope, filters, color mapping, camera, etc.
