The North America Nebula is a large emission nebula in the Constellation Cygnus. The shape resembles the continent of North America with a dusty region shaped like the Gulf of Mexico. It lies about 1,500 light-years away and spans about 50 light-years across. It covers an area more than four times the size of the full moon.

The Pelican Nebula is an emission nebula near the North America Nebula. The shape resembles a pelican. The Pelican Nebula is divided by a foreground molecular dark dust cloud from the North America Nebula.
