Description

This object was harder to image than I thought, especially at f/7.7. Even after 10 hours of exposure time, I feel like I should have taken more.

The H-alpha is diffuse, but it occurs in distinct areas vs. the reflection component (in other words, those red fringes on the edge of the blue nebulosity are real). Pi Scorpii is very bright, eliciting a rare reflection from our fluorite system. This is an HaRGB image, with H-alpha mapped 70% to the red channel and 7% to the blue.
