Description

The Seagull Nebula is located approximately 3,800 light-years away, and more than 100 light years across, resembling a bird hence the name of this magnificent stellar nursery. Near the seagull's eye there is a cluster of "recently" born stars (about 1,5 million light years ago) with its "eye" being the brightest and hottest of the newborn stars in the entire nebula. The dominant colour the Seagull Nebula is red, however it was processed in the SHO Palette to give this rainbow like image.

Ha: 170 x 300s

OIII: 47 x 300s

SII: 116 x 300s

The post-processing included removal of stars using starnet++, processed in SHO using Ha as the Luminance layer (adobe photoshop) and then another HOO processed photo (through astropixel-processor) was merged with the SHO one to give a colour balance to the stars.
