Description

While testing my equipment for the upcoming solar eclipse, I was able to capture several sunspots (Sunspots 3614, 3615, 3617,1619, 2620 and 3621). Sunspots are areas on the surface of the sun that are cooler due to concentrations of magnetic flux that reduce convection. Although cooler, sunspots still have a surface temp of 6500F ! Sunspots are very large, to give you an idea of just how large they are, superimposed on the image is a scaled Jupiter and Earth. Not only are they neat to photograph, they help can help astrophotographers get a good focused picture of the sun (you’d be surprised on how hard it is to focus on the sun without any sunspots) Shot on a TS Optics CF APO 90mm F6 Refractor and a Fuji XH2 (for the full solar pic) and a ZWO ASI 2600MC Duo (for the cropped in sunspot pic) with ND5 solar filter.
