Description

Messier 63, also known as the Sunflower Galaxy, is a spiral galaxy located in the constellation Canes Venatici, roughly 37 million light-years away from Earth. It is characterized by its prominent spiral arms that exhibit a winding pattern resembling that of a sunflower. Messier 63 is a barred spiral galaxy, indicating a central bar-shaped region in addition to its spiral arms. Within these spiral arms are regions of active star formation, where young, massive stars are born. It is of interest to astronomers for its intricate structure and its role in the study of galactic evolution and star formation processes within spiral galaxies.
