Description

NGC 3198: Distance from earth is about 47 Mio light years.

So far, two supernovae were detected in this barred spiral galaxy in 1966 (SN 1966J) and in 1999 (1999bw).

The Galaxy was one of the 18 initial galaxies targeted by the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) key project on the extragalactic distance scale (Cepheid star detection & measurement and (fine) determination of the Hubble constant.).

Captured using my non-DSO camera (ZWO ASI 385MC 2.1MP camera) and an Optolong broadband Filter (see gear).

My second time I did the post-processing in Pixinsight.
