Description

Yesterday evening, around Sunset, a bright shiny object appeared in the late afternoon skies of Prescott, AZ. It appeared out of nowhere. To the naked eye, it was an extraordinarily bright round orb that was smaller than the moon, but appeared to be substantially larger than a planet. Two local residents called me to inquire as to what it might be. After examining it with binoculars and a telephoto lens, it was clear that something was hanging down from it. The stunning brightness was a result of the way it caught and reflected the setting Sun. I went into action and snapped a few photos. This cropped image was taken with a Nikon D780 and a zoom lens that maxes out at 400mm.
