Description

NGC 4319 with just below it (still within the spiral arms) the quasar Markarian 205. Halton Arp used this pair in his critique of the Big Bang; he saw a connection between both objects despite the significantly different redshifts. In the meantime, it is clear that NGC 4319 is only 80 million light-years away from us, while Markarian 205, at nearly 1 billion light-years, is much farther.
