Description

No astro darkness, that returns to my area in three days. I'm impressed at how much this camera gathers with just 180s subs. Managed to show up the bow shock wave on the lower right edge, caused by the black hole Cygnus x-1.
We had a nice clear spell which allowed a lot of playing about with the telescope and the QHY183m. Since I got the second hand scope I struggled getting the secondary central to the focuser. A few weeks ago my concentric eyepiece arrived. This showed the mirror to sitting lower in the focuser by a few mm. Trouble was the spider vanes were at there limit. The spider vanes end in a small threaded rod around half an inch and the tightening nuts are the same, meaning the bits that pass through the carbon tube. Luckily I still have my old 200p and the tightening nuts not only fit the TS' spider vane but they are longer to boot. The longer nuts allowed me to place two washers on the outside of the tube. I'm now confident the secondary is central.
During these clear nights I've been changing the spacers a lot. I still think my back focus is not spot on yet as my HFR for focus still seems high. High temperatures at night don't help these figures so I'll hang fire until the weather cools. So the image is in high temperatures and only nautical dark. It's been good to work on the scope for an extended period though.
