My humble attempt at the infamous "Cave" nebula ( (Sh2-155 or Caldwell 9) and surrounding region of the Cepheus B molecular cloud.

From my Bortle 4 skies, this nebula is too dim to see with the naked eye or binoculars. It appears like a faint gray smudge when viewed through my 12.5" Meade StarFinder telescope. This wide-field image was taken with a RedCat51 telescope and ZWO ASI2600MC color camera with Optolong L-Ultimate narrowband filter for the nebula and UV-IR Cut broadband filter for natural-looking stars.

Revisions C and D are H-O-O and H-S-O narrowband color palette variations.

Description: Close-up view of the Sh2-155 (Cave Nebula) portion of the Cepheus Molecular Cloud, rotated 30°clockwise and cropped, as well as rendered in H-S-O narrowband color palette. The H-S-O palette is false in the sense that no sulfur-data were collected with the Optolong L-Ultimate filter - it passes only Ha and Oiii wavelengths. Nevertheless, this color palette shows the relative portions of ionized Ha (gold) and Oili (blue) illuminated by massive OB3 Cepheus star association.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
