Description

This image, like the others in my gallery was taken in 2022, the year I started shooting with a monochrome camera and a 7-position filter wheel. Most of these objects are ones I had shot sometime over the past 4 years when I was using a "one-shot color" cooled CMOS camera. However the difference in the quality of the images is dramatically better with the mono camera, where I can control the colours better, and shoot images with slightly higher resolution. I should also say that the difference isn't just about the cameras I have been using: it is also about the quality of focusing, tracking, and other aspects of image acquisition. At the same time I stepped up to a mono CMOS, I incorporated more software tools such as Russell Croman's amazing BlurXterminator into my processing workflow, and began using N.I.N.A. which introduced AF, plate solving, better calibration frames, and many other improvements to my imaging routine.
