Description

vdB 152 (also known as Bernard 175) is a blue reflection nebula atop a dark Bok globule at the end of the dark nebula LDN 1217.  It is located about 1400 light years distant in Cepheus. Embedded in the top right side of the nebula is the Herbig-Haro object HH 450 - a jet emitted from a newly forming star. The object below vdB 152 is the old planetary nebula Dengel-Hartl 5 (DeHt 5). The thin, red filaments in the right side of the image are the supernova remnants of SNR 110.3 + 11.3. Several distant small galaxies are visible in the background despite the density of the Milky Way in this area.

Imaged over several nights:  Sep 3-5, 11, 2023.
