Target Description:
The red-rimmed blue area in this image is NGC 2467, and with the other bright nebulae, they constitute LBN 1067. Most of the image's detail occurs in NGC 2467, which hosts a star cluster with a massive O-type star, HD64315. (At the white region within the blue cloud.) The violent UV and winds from this star association have sculpted the nebula and set it to radiate in OIII (blue) and Ha (red).

Below NGC 2467 is a smaller circular, red-encircled blue nebula named H17—a Stromgren Sphere (a type of feature I discussed in https://www.astrobin.com/29jims/). This blue-encircled-by-red theme repeats time and again where near an ionizing source, its intensity can knock the electrons off of oxygen. However, as it declines radially from the source, it can only affect hydrogen, and still farther from the source, it has little or no effect.

Processing Description:
As per my usual processing train, the emission part of the narrowband images was separated from the contaminating continuum, and the resulting signals were partitioned into the RGB as per their wavelengths. Once the images were stretched, further processing was accomplished outside PixInsight using Topaz and PhotoDirector tools.

Statistics:
Distance: 4420
Apparent Magnitude: 7.1
