Description

This image of M31 was taken with the Celestron RASA 11 and used a combination of 4 exposures to produce an HDR image.

It was important to the image quality to a minimum of core burn out was mitigated.

I used the following groups of exposures:

25 x 5 Seconds
532 x 15 Seconds
102 x 30 Seconds
55 x 60 Seconds

The integration total is just over 4 hours using the Celestron LPR filter which under my Bortle 7 sky does a good job with keeping the light pollution at bay.

Camera being an OSC was set at 1x1 bin, -2 Celsius, image scale 1.23 arc secs per pixel

These were all integrated into 4 separate exposure masters and combined into an HDR composition that kept the core nicely formed.

The 532 subs were then inspected and 100 subs chosen that had low FWHM and good eccentricity. These were separately integrated to produce a star master. The stars were separated from both images and the 2 sets combined to give good stars and a detailed background.

A lot of post processing was done in photoshop for gradient removal , colour balancing and sharpening.
