Description

The North America nebula is about as distinctive as nebulae get; the shape is obvious. Tucked along the left side of the Gulf of Mexico void is a massive line of gas, dust, and star-forming ingredients, informally called the "Cygnus Wall". The entire length is in the vicinity of 15 light years, and is the brightest part of the expanse. This image highlights the area that would likely be near Mexico City on a terrestrial map.
