Description

Here is my version of Sh2-173, aka, The Phantom of the Opera Nebula.  It is a faint emission nebula lying 8,800 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia and is part of the Perseus arm of our Milky Way Galaxy. Its shape and dark dust clouds bear a resemblance to the mask worn by the Phantom of the Opera in the Broadway musical which my wife loves.  Unfortunately, she said it looks more like a puppy dog😕.  So much for my processing skills.

I really wanted to gather twice the data, but we have, once again, 7-10 days of clouds moving in, so the 12 hrs will have to do.  That is a shame because I think I could have pulled so much more out of this faint, unusual nebula if I had more clear nights ahead.  I was also surprised by the lack of OIII data.

Anyway, maybe some of you will like this version of the puppy dog nebula (geeze!) as overall I was very happy with it.
