Description

The Rho Ophiuchi complex is one of the most colorfull areas of our galaxy with different deep sky objects (dark nebulae, reflection nebulae, emission nebulae, globular clusters). Centered at 1° south of the star ρ-Ophiuchi, it also includes the star Antares, also known as the Heart of the Scorpio. This wide field of the area comprises also the Blue Horsehead Nebula (IC 4592, top centre), Sh2-1 with the bright star π-Scorpii (bottom right) and Sh2-7 with at its center the star Dschubba, δ-Scorpii (center right).
At an estimated distance of 430 light-years, this area is one of the closest star-forming regions to the Solar System.

Shoting was done remotely with the Chilescope service in collaboration with 6 other astrophotographer friends. Below are the technical details.
