Description

This is my rendition of the great, canonical M42 Orion Nebula, probably the most studied and photographed DSO in the night sky.  It is a diffuse nebula in the middle of the “sword” of the constellation Orion and, at 1344 light years distance, is the closest region of massive star formation to Earth.   As a consequence," this nebula has revealed much about the process of how stars and planetary systems are formed from collapsing clouds of gas and dust. Astronomers have directly observed protplanetary disks & brown dwarfs within the nebula, intense and turbiulent motions of the gas, and the photo-ionizing effects of massive nearby stars in the nebula" [Wikipedia]..

The 25.3 hrs of LRGBH data were collected in Oct-Nov 2021  by DeepSkyWest in Rio Hurtato, Chile and processed by me in Oct 2023.

Version B: A rather subtle color correction in reducing blue that was too high.
