I've been working on this one for a little while! Originally it started with a few nights of filler data whilst waiting for other targets to rise, then I started working on it as my main target focusing on the central region, and finally I decided to add a second set of data and convert this into a two panel mosaic. If I'd decided to work on this as a mosaic from the start I would probably have framed things differently, as it stands it'll be rather awkward if I ever decide to "finish" this into a full Soul Nebula mosaic.

This was my first attempt at building up a mosaic so I was conservative with my framing and picked a 30% overlap. This was especially helpful given my lack of a rotator, thus my rotation night to night depends on my ability to line up two bits of tape currently!

I don't think I'm planning on doing any further images using the IDAS NB3 filter either, I've been finding the overly wide bandpasses (30-40nm) to be a real issue when processing the data. I have to discard all of the Oiii data as it can't be combined with the 7nm data from the l-extreme (not without making the whole stack worse anyway) and it is a real struggle to get any real contrast out of the Sii. I'll be replacing it with a dedicated 6.5nm Sii filter for future images, not ideal for an OSC camera, but I've not been using those blue and green pixels anyway!

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
