Description

The Tadpoles, which look more like spermatozoa than the precursors of the frogs I raised in my childhood,  have long been on my bucket list of objects to image.  This dusty area of the Milky Way in the constellation Auriga is illuminated by the open cluster of young stars, NGC1893, at the center of the image.

The SHO image consists of 217x 8 minute subframes (SII 83, Ha 60,  OIII 74) for a total integration time of nearly 29 hours.  To this was added 3x 45 30 sec RGB subs to capture the stars.  Processing in Pixinsight using WBPP, NormalizeScaleGradients and DynamicBackgroundExtraction to adjust for light pollution on each channel.  Combined SHO image was processed using the RC-Astro AI-based processes and GeneralizedHyperbolicStretch.  Getting acceptable colors for the SHO starless image in GHS was, well, a bit of a stretch.  RGB stars were color calibrated with SpectrophotometricColorCalibration and stretched with GHS to manage their size..
