Description

I have been enjoying (Ha!) a bit of a learning curve with autoguiding. Using a computer along with autoguiding has enabled me to image for longer overall image lengths as I'm able to leave the equipment to itself for longer intervals now. However, I'm wondering as many before me apparently have, if it's time to consider replacing my DSLR with a dedicated cooled astro camera. Would it improve my images enough to justify the cost? With the Elephant Trunk, which I have attempted to image in the past without a computer and autoguiding, now even as I was able to get 6.35 hours of integration, I'm not really impressed with the result. Astrophotography, although I have been dabbling in it for approximately ten years is definitely a difficult hobby to say the least. Although I believe, right or wrong, that it wouldn't feel less difficult even if I had a lot more money to throw at it??
Software: ASTAP, NINA, StarTools 8, Stellarium, ASCOM, PHD2, Topaz PhotoAi, and Luminar Neo.
