Description

Galaxy season has been almost not exisistent for me this year, with what seems like endless cloudy nights, except when a bright Moon was close to the target, so imaging not realy feasible. So far I've only managed 5 partial nights imaging, in over 2 months. Most of those nights have been challenging with passing cloud, fog forming and/or strong winds. My first attempt to capture the blue data for this image was ruined by fog yielding very low SNR, so I had to reshoot those, but the second attempt had clouds passing through, so very limited imaging time. The LRG subs were capture in strong winds. In the end I've just chuckeed everything in the mix and processed as best I can.

Title: My 1st LRBG image out of PI

Description: After my 1st ever PI image being M66 with only RGB data, I thought I'd reprocess that data of it's sibling galaxy M65 for which I have LRGB data from last year. Calibration and stacking was done last year in ImagesPlus (IP), so I cropped the stacking artefacts in IP and saved as 32bit TIFF, then used PI RGB Channel Combine to build the colour image. Next GX, BXT and PCC at linear stage, before using ArcSinH, StarX (to split stars and galaxy), more ArcSinH on the starless image, together with UnsharpMask, before adding back the stars. Final application of NoiseX before saving the RGB image. Next I processed the Luminance data and layered that over the RGB image. Lots to learn to get a smoother combination, but I wanted to test the basic processes.
