Description

This is the largest and brightest galaxy in the Aries constellation. It is a multiarm spiral galaxy with a small core and dusty spiral arms, and it is strongly asymetric with a principal arm brighter and longer than the others, with many star forming regions.
I have choosen to present here the luminosity picture, which is much more contrasted than the color versions.
This galaxy has a size of 7.2x4.3' and is located 114 million light years away. Its diameter is estimated to 240000 light years. It has a small satellite galaxy, NGC770.
