Description

What started out as a 2-panel mosaic processed in SHO needs the addition of two additional panels to complete the full Cosmic Question Mark nebula. Nevertheless, the target is most notable for NGC 7822 (also known as Cederblad 214 (Ced 214)), a large emission nebula located in Cepheus recognized as the OIII-rich central bright nebulosity. Surrounding this central feature is Sh2-171, giving the target the well known shape of the Cosmic Question Mark, though in this 2-panel mosaic, the top and the tail of the question mark are cut off. The open cluster NGC 7762 is seen along the upper right edge. With so many interesting targets now coming into view, I am not sure I'll have enough time to add the top and bottom panels to this base set of two panels this year.
