Description

The Pelican Nebula (also known as IC 5067/70) is an H II region visible in the constellation Cygnus, near Deneb; it belongs to the same giant molecular cloud as the nearby North America Nebula. Its distance is estimated at around 1956 light years.
The nebula resembles a pelican, due to a dark nebula that marks the northern edge of the object, thus making it resemble a pelican's beak.
From an astronomical point of view, it is an emission nebula, much studied due to the star formation phenomena that occur within it.
Due to the strong dynamics of its gases, the nebula will change shape relatively quickly (on astronomical times!)
At the center of the nebula stands an elongated structure in the shape of a trunk, at the tip of which two curved jets of gas can be glimpsed: this is the Herbig-Haro object cataloged as HH555 and the two jets are curved probably due to the extension of the entire HII region.
I propose here an heavy crop of the image to show better the two jets (anyway a little faint):

I obtained this image from my home terrace, with sky conditions very challenging due to humidity hood, so much so that in some moments I asked myself it it was worthy to continue shooting.
But the nebula is quite bright, so doing many exposures above all with Ha filter I was able to overcome in some way the poor transparency.
