Description

This field is just south of the well know Orion nebula. The more notable objects in this image NGC1999 (also cataloged  as vdB 46, LBN979), IC 430, and LDN 1641. It is an active star forming region and there are many young stellar objects and Herbig-Haro nebulosity (associated with newborn stars). It is a very active region and only the major items fit on the annotation.  These objects and some of the brighter stars are identified in the annotated image. NGC 1999 (vdB 46) and  associated star (BD-06 1253) is about 1,600 light years distant Horizontal FOV is about 115.  Full size image scale is  about 1.73 arcsec/pix.
