Description

NGC 2903 is classified as an active, barred spiral galaxy in Leo.  It is estimated to be about 20 million light-years distant, 80,000 light years in diameter, and features two wispy arms gracefully extending out in opposite directions.  Other’s who have captured this object pick up a variety of colors which makes it a good target of interest.

“NGC 2903 exhibits an exceptional rate of star formation activity near its center, also bright in radio, infrared, ultraviolet, and x-ray bands. Just a little smaller than our own Milky Way.” – from NASA APOD April 10, 2015.

This image is a crop of a larger, wide field view of the galaxy and region.  For me I am delighted to go back and revisit this series and utilize PixInsight as I’m learning more to bring out details.  Using PS I did some minor tweaks for this final image. (I’m rarely using PS these days).  I’m excited to go back to this galaxy again and shoot it with my C9.25 Edge HD.
