Description

Many dim emission nebulae are rarely captured these days in their natural state, without using narrowband data.  While the benefits of blending in narrowband data are obvious to the Astrobin community, sometimes it's interesting to see an object in true broadband RGB, without any narrowband enhancement.  As far as I can tell, this target is rarely imaged these days with pure broadband RGB color under dark skies.  It was harder to bring out the dimmest details without having narrowband data, of course, but I think the natural colors in the reflection nebula and surrounding dust make up for that deficit and provide an interesting, fresh take on an old favorite.  For this, I revisited some old data from late 2021, using some of the latest processing tools.  I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

For this, I used my ASI2600MC to capture 300-sec. OSC subs the first night, and then added some luminance data using my ASI2600MM with 180-sec. monochrome subs taken the second night.  No filters were used, with the exception of the built-in IR cut on the ASI2600MC.  I probably should've switched those acquisition times, taking longer subs on the luminance monochrome shots and shorter subs with the OSC camera, but it seems to have turned out okay anyway.
