Description

Observed on 16 April 2023 at Alpine, Texas with a 22” Obsession UC Dobsonian.

I carefully verified the star pattern around the GC and could see the 14th magnitude star that is on its east side but I could not glimpse the GC itself. Just too dim and too far away.

AKA as the Ursa Major GC. Initially it was thought to be a dwarf galaxy, and it was given the name Ursa Major Dwarf. However, it was later discovered to be a globular cluster.

Shapley Sawyer Classification: XII
Distance: 355,558 LY
Type: Far Halo
Position w.r.t. core of galaxy: Very high above the MY Disk and away from the core.
Any stars resolved: No
Undergoing Core Collapse: No
