Description

The Pacman Nebula, NGC 281, is a hydrogen emission nebula in the constellation of Cassiopeia in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way. The nebula is an estimated 9,200 light years from Earth . The nebula contains a bright open cluster of stars as well as dark Bok globules that represent dense area of gas that are likely area of new star formation that we cannot see.

The image is a combination of Sulfur 2, Hydrogen Alpha, and Oxygen 3 mapped to RGB and adjusted to form a classic Hubble Palette. The nebula is the first non Messier object I imaged 1 year prior with my Edge 9.25. I have enjoyed seeing the progress I have made in the last year.
