Description

Messier 78 is such an interesting and somewhat mysterious target in the beautiful Orion constellation.  My picture last year was marginal quality. This year I gave  it another shot  at 750 mm, so I could include more background. This is a long overdue picture due to very time consuming processing, but the work is done and the result is final.
M78 is the brightest diffuse reflection nebula of a group of nebulae that includes NGC 2064, NGC2067, and NGC2071.
There are many  young stars still in the process of formation and 17 Herrbig-Haro objects.  Happily,  all are well shown in the picture, so I believe it is a superior result from my prior photo .
