Description

Since I started this hobby, I have been fascinated by the Vela SNR.   Passing overhead from my latitude, it present numerous opportunities  for imaging.  Having taken it at both 200mm and 1600mm focal length, I thought I would give it a go at 640mm, focal length with my Hypergraph 8.  This image above is the result of a 2-panel, 2-colour (HOO) mosaic taking 20hours of integration in total.  It is still not my favourite Vela SNR image (that would be the Nikon 200mm HSO I did earlier in the year), but it is a fitting enough way for me to celebrate my second anniversary on Astrobin.

2 x 30 x 600 [OIII]

Might add [SII] at a later stage.

Title: Jackson Pollack version

Description: I managed to get some [SII] data on the Western side of the mosaic, might try again on the eastern side if the weather holds for tonight. This is an HSO palette, which I think works a lot better for Vela than SHO.
