Description

There is some faint nebulosity near mu Serpens - at the border of Serpens and Libra constellations - that is often not imaged. This includes some LDN and LBN objects, such as LDN 134, LDN 183, and so on. Given the faint nature of these, I planned to image it before it gets too hot here in California, so that my DSLRs benefit from low temperatures and hence less thermal noise. I started imaging this region in late February 2022 and gradually accumulated reasonable amount of data. I am finally happy with the outcome. Even the darkest regions of the image have some faint nebulosity. The data were taken mostly under Bortle 3 skies but some were taken at Bortle 4, and 2 as well.

I used two cameras with different pixel sizes here for the first time (3.7 um and 4.3 um) and combined them with the APP. I realized that has led to some star colors not being well aligned in the final image, especially near the edges (as expected). In principle, APP must have taken care of it but I am still experimenting with it.

There was some nasty light pollution gradient in the image that I spend a lot of time fixing, Kudos to APP! Post-processing was done with APP, GIMP, and Starnet++. The final image was clean (thanks to low temperatures and total integration time) and did not need much denoising, but I used a very slight amount of denoising without sharpening with Topaz.

I also made two versions, a soft version (original submission) and a stretched version (version B). I really can't decide which one I like better so I left both here.
