Cosmic rays

Description

Cosmic rays are high energy particles travelling across space everywhere. Some hit the earths magnetic field and "rains down" as lower energy particles. When those hit the camera sensor, they light up a few pixels.
I captured these images by covering the lens with a lenscap and a cloth, so no light could enter the regular way. Cosmic rays can travel through a bit of matter. I took long exposure images and compared them to each other. If a dot appeared in every frame, then it was probably a hot pixel. If a dot or a streak only appeared in a single frame, it was most likley a cosmic ray hitting the sensor.
I stiched 16 of them together in this image, captured over 30 minutes.
