Description

Tendrils of opaque gas and dust splotch this celestial canvas in the constellation of Cassiopeia, the Queen.  To the left of the image - within the nebula SH2-187 - light breaks through as the gas collapses to form new stars, while throughout the scene, tens of thousands of multi-colored stars add sparkle.

Equipment and processing used: Celestron RASA-11 telescope with ZWO ASI294 MC Pro one shot color camera riding on an iOptron CEM120-EC2 mount.  N.I.N.A./PHD2 used for image acquisition.  178 individual five minute exposures (almost 15 hours of data), captured on the nights of January 20, 21, 23, 24 and 25, 2023.
