Description

This is my second Telescope Live image.   This one of NGC1365, the Great Barred Spiral Galaxy.    This is a wonderful object and perfect for the resolution of the Planewave CDK24 Telescope at the observatory in El Sauce, Chile.       NGC1365 is in Fornax and probably the most beautiful and prominent barred spiral in the sky.    The bar is approximately 4' long and the core is less than 1' in width, so longer focal lengths work well for this object.      The planewave CDK24 has a focal length of 4000mm so well suited for the object.
NGC1365 is 200,000 ly across and some 60 million ly from our solar system.     The bar rotates clockwise at velocities of 2000km/sec  in the nucleus making one rotation in 350 million years!
