Description

Can a nebula swallow up a galaxy? Like a gigantic cosmic worm, like Galactus the devourer of worlds, CG4 seems intent on engulfing the galaxy PGC21338. But this is nothing more than a random effect of perspective. CG4 is only 1300 AL away from us, while the galaxy is more than 145 million AL away.CG4 is a cloud of gas and dust, a cometary globule. They are generally characterized by dusty heads and elongated tails. These features make cometary globules visually similar to comets, when in fact they are very different. Globules are often the birthplace of stars, and many have very young stars in their heads. There are several theories as to why this object's head broke off.
