Description

This field of obscure Astrobin Debut Objects is located in the constellation of Draco at a declination of +57 degrees.

NGC 6473 is a spiral galaxy located 400 million light years away.  It is a magnitude 14.5 galaxy which spans 1.2 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a large diameter of 140,000 light years.  From our view perspective, the disk is inclined about 25 degrees from edge-on.  The structure of NGC 6473 looks like a grand spiral with a few hints of straight VV rows.  Two bright stellar areas are seen in the lower right of the disk, which could be foreground stars or small companions.  I don’t see much disturbance in that region, so I do not think they are companions.

The elliptical UGC 10980 is also the same distance away as NGC 6473.  The 2 galaxies at upper right are further away.
