Description

This wide FOV shows the death of 2 stars.
On the left, SH2-216 is a planetary nebula.  These ionized gases are expanding spherically ("planetary") from a dying red giant.
On the right, SH2-221 is a supernova remanent (SNR).  These gases are the result of a exploding star (supernova).
